Rasmussen: Obama Leads By 7

By  |

Obama – 49%
McCain – 42%

Obama gains a point and McCain loses another, and now McCain has dipped below 43, which hasn’t happened yet in June.

The 5 day:
06/22/2008: McCain – 42%, Obama – 49%
06/21/2008: McCain – 43%, Obama – 48%
06/20/2008: McCain – 44%, Obama – 48%
06/19/2008: McCain – 45%, Obama – 48%
06/18/2008: McCain – 45%, Obama – 48%

And here’s a curious note on public financing…

While popular with editorial boards and reporters, public financing of campaigns has never been popular with voters. A plurality of voters say they are more likely to vote for a candidate who rejects public funding than for one who accepts it.

I certainly didn’t expect to hear that opinion. A sign of the times?

More tomorrow…

I wonder if the voting public is unenthused by public financing of campaigns because they figure it’s their tax dollars — and possibly financing someone they actively oppose, too. If the alternative is a few fat cats buying candidates, that’s one thing. But when they see someone raising small amounts from millions of people, there just isn’t the feeling that they election is being bought by the few.
