Casting call for reality tv pilot based on ad agencies and social media

A new reality TV show aims to bring the competition between ad agencies for accounts to UK television.

UK marketing news website The Drum reports that production company Films of Record has issued a casting call for advertising executives to take part in filming for the pilot of their new show. The show will see agencies handling a number of live social marketing briefs in competition for real life accounts.

The Drum reports that the prospective clients for the briefs will be charities, CSR and government campaigns to change bad habits and behaviour.

Eve Kay, the executive producer for the series pilot, said: “We’re looking for imaginative and bold solutions to perennial social problems; increasing the uptake in organ donation, getting bankers to donate bonuses to charity, getting teenage girls to do sport, encouraging people to become foster parents, getting people from ethnic minorities to join the police; and stopping middle class middle aged people from binge drinking”.

The as-yet unnamed show will be pitched to the UK’s major channels and if accepted, Films of Record predicts that a full series could go into production this Autumn. Possible contestants are requested to contact the production company via email or phone; details are available at the Films of Record website.

The production company describes itself as specialising in tackling “difficult subjects” by “securing access to previously impenetrable institutions and producing challenging and honest films that impact the viewer”. It has produced documentaries for Panorama such as reports on Health and Safety practices, police firearms officers and a recent investigation into social work and vulnerable children inspired by the Baby P case. It has also produced many examples of independent programming, including coverage of Amnesty International’s Secret Policeman’s Ball.
